CRIME DOWN IN BANYULE

New figures released today by the independent Crime Statistics Agency show the six-year crime trend that started in 2011 has been turned around, with people in Banyule experiencing a decline in crime rates for the past 12 months.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines MP said the investment in 3135 new police – the biggest police recruitment drive in Victoria’s history – funded by the Andrews Labor Government, was starting to have an impact on the ground – with crime in the Banyule local government area down by 2.7 per cent.

HERITAGE LISTED VIEWBANK SILOS RESTORED TO FORMER GLORY

The State Government has completed extensive restoration works to repair the three heritage-listed Viewbank silos in Melbourne’s inner north.

Last year, funding was provided to Parks Victoria by the Living Heritage Grants Program which is administered by Heritage Victoria. The final commitment of $170,000 enabled reconstruction of all three of the silo roofs, including additional strengthening works approved by Heritage Victoria.
