NEW CLASSROOMS AND BETTER FACILITIES FOR IVANHOE PRIMARY

Ivanhoe students now have bigger, better classrooms and school facilities to learn in, thanks to the Andrews Government. Treasurer of Victoria Tim Pallas and Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today visited Ivanhoe Primary School to officially open the school’s $2 million upgrade.

A relocatable building has been replaced with a permanent prep building and students now have four new learning spaces, an activities space and outdoor learning deck, as part of the project. This major upgrade has given students and teachers at Ivanhoe Primary School the modern facilities they need to achieve their best.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY UPGRADES FOR BURGUNDY STREET

The Andrews Government is delivering safer crossings for pedestrians in Heidelberg, with a new package of safety upgrades on Burgundy Street near the Austin Hospital.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines announced that community consultation and planning is now underway for Burgundy Street safety improvements near the busy hospital precinct.

The project will deliver safer crossings and better footpaths to make it easier for pedestrians visiting the hospital and local businesses along Burgundy Street, Heidelberg.

KICKING GOALS FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS IN IVANHOE

Beverley Road Oval’s Banyule Junior Football Club, Banyule Football Club and Banyule Cricket Club will finally get the female-friendly sport facilities they deserve thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today joined club representatives at the popular venue in Heidelberg to announce the Labor Government is kicking in $100,000 to upgrade the change rooms and amenities from the Female Friendly Facilities Fund. This will involve the removal of urinals, installation of eight unisex showers and eight unisex toilets.

DELIVERING BRAND NEW FACILITIES FOR VIEWBANK STUDENTS

Viewbank students now have state-of-the-art performance facilities and a new STEAM learning precinct, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today officially opened Viewbank College’s $11.5 million upgrade, which includes a new performing arts centre and refurbished Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) learning areas.
The refurbished STEAM learning areas are co-located in the building next to the performing arts centre.

A new canopy provides a weather-protected link with the new performing arts centre to create the STEAM learning precinct, which has been developed in line with the strong commitment from the college and community to promote real, collaborative enquiry based learning.

FUNDING FOR INNOVATIVE SOMALI LAWYER PROGRAM

The Andrews Government is strengthening multicultural organisations in Banyule to better engage and support their communities through the Capacity Building and Participation grants program.

Member for Ivanhoe, Anthony Carbines MP welcomed $15,000 in funding to Banyule Community Health Legal Service to support their Somali Graduate Lawyer Program.

This innovative program provides Somali-Australian law graduates with a career pathway through work experience and mentoring. It also helps support youth leadership in the Somali community through outreach and engagement of other young Somali-Australians.
