DELIVERING BRAND NEW FACILITIES FOR VIEWBANK STUDENTS

Viewbank students now have state-of-the-art performance facilities and a new STEAM learning precinct, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today officially opened Viewbank College’s $11.5 million upgrade, which includes a new performing arts centre and refurbished Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) learning areas.

Students, staff and the community will now have a two-storey performing arts centre made up of:

  • Flexible auditorium and theatre staging
  • Back of house technical, storage and handling facilities
  • A front-of-house gathering area and foyer space and carpark
  • Drama and music learning spaces.

The refurbished STEAM learning areas are co-located in the building next to the performing arts centre.

A new canopy provides a weather-protected link with the new performing arts centre to create the STEAM learning precinct, which has been developed in line with the strong commitment from the college and community to promote real, collaborative enquiry based learning.

The STEAM precinct contains science and technology facilities, materials technology facilities and art studios.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every student can access a great local school. We have invested more than $3.8 billion to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across Victoria.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.

This is in contrast to the Liberals who cut $1 billion from our education system when they were in government, leaving our schools to crumble and decay.

Quotes attributable to Premier Daniel Andrews MP

“We’re building and upgrading schools here in Viewbank and right across the state because no matter where you live, you deserve access to a great local school.”

“These upgrades are more than just bricks and buildings – they are about giving every child, every chance.”

Quotes attributable to Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines MP

“I am proud to be a former student of Viewbank College. It is a great local school, and only Labor is investing in facilities that reflect the hard work and commitment of teachers and staff, and enable students to reach their full potential.”
