Playgroup funding gives Ivanhoe kids a great start

Families in Ivanhoe will benefit from a new grant to help establish a community playgroup as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $50,000 Great Start Community Playgroup Fund.

Rosanna Fire Station Community House has received $500 to help get the resources needed like books, toys and play equipment as well as mentoring support to ensure a successfully run playgroup.

Playgroup Victoria is administering the grants and will assist and support the local group as it establishes the new playgroup.

This is one of 41 new grants received across the State so far as part of the Labor Government’s fund.

Playgroups help new parents to connect to one another, enabling them to learn from and support each other as their children grow.  More than 40,000 children and 30,000 families participate in playgroups in Victoria each year.

They play a vital role in strengthening families and communities, and instilling Victorian children with a lifelong love of learning.

The Labor Government is committed to making Victoria the Education State – and this begins with giving every child a strong start in life.

Quotes attributable to Member for Ivanhoe, Anthony Carbines MP

“We are proud to support new community playgroups as part of the Great Start Fund – children learn so much by playing and socialising with each other, and playgroups provide them with this opportunity.”

“We want families to have great access to a quality playgroup – they are a great way for parents and children to make friends and establish support networks in our local communities.”
