NEW POCKET OF OPEN SPACE IN IVANHOE

Ivanhoe will get a new pocket park as part of the Victorian Government’s $154 million investment in greening our growing suburbs.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines said the Waterdale Road Pocket Park would be established by mid 2022 with $1.3 million funding under the Suburban Parks Program.

Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio today announced the pocket park as one of the successful first-round projects that will give families much needed green space for recreation, relaxation and spending time with their pets.

$4.4M FOR MACLEOD COLLEGE UPGRADE

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today announced Macleod College will share in $388.8 million for 57 upgrade and modernisation projects at schools across Victoria. This includes all school upgrades the Labor Government committed to at the 2018 election.
In addition to the $492,900 received in the 2019-20 State Budget, the Government is providing $4.44 million to construct a new science building, primary school play areas and entry landscaping. The funding will also contribute to the demolition of Block A and part of Block B. This project is part of the Victorian Government's Building Works package, which will deliver $2.7 billion in shovel-ready projects – big and small – to get thousands of people back to work across our state.

NORTH EAST LINK INVESTS IN LOCAL SPORTS AT FORD PARK

Ford Park in Ivanhoe is set to receive a massive overhaul as part of an Andrews  Government’s $68 million sports funding package, as construction on the North East Link continues to ramp up. The new and upgraded sports facilities to be built at Ford Park, will keep local clubs playing and thriving during the construction and operation of the North East Link.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines said Ford Park will receive impressive upgrades that will benefit thousands of local players during the construction and operation of North East Link.

The upgrades to Ford Park include overhauling the existing southern oval, a new and improved sports field and lighting, a new boundary fence, time-keepers box and electronic scoreboard, behind goal netting and shelters for players and officials.

NEW SAFE CROSSING FOR PEDESTRIANS IN IVANHOE

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today announced that works had begun on a $700,000 project to install new pedestrian operated signals on Livingstone Street, between Dudley Street and Wallace Street.
The new signals will provide a safer crossing for pedestrians and deliver a more integrated bicycle network by connecting riders with the existing cycling trail along Donaldson Creek.

GIVING BACK TO OUR DEDICATED VETERANS

The Andrews Government is doing more to support Victoria’s veteran community by upgrading a dedicated mental health precinct. Minister for Veterans Robin Scott was at Austin Health’s Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital today to announce $75,000 to refurbish the outdoor area of the Coral-Balmoral Building. It forms part of the hospital’s dedicated mental health precinct.

The Government is investing $1 million to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia so that they can continue their important work supporting members to be healthy, happy and to participate in society

MORE SUPPORT FOR OLYMPIC VILLAGE PRIMARY SCHOOL – MAKING OUR NEW SCHOOL EVEN BETTER

Olympic Village Primary School has received a grant of $200,000 to build creative play and outdoor learning areas.  The grant, from the Inclusive Schools Fund, will provide shade to increase access and use of classroom connected courtyards, as well as developing a community recreation and leisure area, as an integral part of the school facilities.

The works will be a timely finishing touch to the new $6 million school in Heidelberg West. This saw the construction of the new school and demolition of the dilapidated old school, with students moving into their new ‘state of the art’ classrooms in Term 4 of 2019.

LOCAL CLUBS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY FOR SPORTING CLUB GRANTS

Grassroots sports clubs are being encouraged to apply for funding to upgrade equipment, buy new uniforms, boost administration capabilities and improve training for officials.

Member for Ivanhoe, Anthony Carbines MP announced that applications had opened for the Andrews Labor Government’s 2019/20 Sporting Club Grants Program.

ST MARTIN OF TOURS PRIMARY SCHOOL CELEBRATES OPENING OF $3.5 MILLION REDEVELOPMENT

Local students now have bigger, better classrooms and new school facilities, thanks to the Andrews State Government.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today visited St Martin of Tours Primary School to officially open its new Mercy Building, which includes 10 new learning areas, breakout and seminar spaces and an undercroft parking area.

This project benefited from a $1.5 million investment from the Andrews State Government. It is one of the many Victorian schools that benefited from the State Government’s $120 million Capital Funding Program for Non-Government Schools.

Remembrance Day Services & 100th Year Anniversary of Macleod Avenue of Honour

Remembrance Day services are held across Australia to commemorate and remember all Australians who have died from war and armed conflict, with a minutes silence at 11am on 11 November, as a sign of respect and a time for reflection.

Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines MP encouraged community participation in local services.

2018 was the 100th year anniversary since the end of fighting on the Western Front in World War 1, also known as Armistice Day.

RECORD GRANTS FUNDING TO PROTECT LOCAL HERITAGE

The Andews Labor Government is protecting Victoria’s most important cultural landmarks and buildings with a record $3 million in grants from the Living Heritage Program.
Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines MP announced an $80,000 grant from this year’s program to the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) for works for Napier Waller House in Ivanhoe.
The funding will enable urgent conservation works to the laundry, including structural stabilisation and drainage works, and service upgrades.
