Students and local families in West Heidelberg will have a new primary school after the Victorian Government allocated $6 million to rebuild the Olympic Village Primary School.
Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today announced the funding for the Charles La Trobe College’s Olympic Village campus in West Heidelberg.
Charles La Trobe College is a P-12 college with two campuses – Olympic Village Primary School in West Heidelberg and the La Trobe Campus in Macleod West.
Buildings at Olympic Village Primary School are not well connected, are in poor condition and do not serve the school’s needs. They will be demolished and replaced with new state-of -the -art classrooms and administrative buildings.
The new facilities will include flexible teaching spaces that can cater for small and large groups of students, new staff and administration facilities, and classrooms designed around a series of courtyards. The Victorian School Building Authority worked with Charles La Trobe College to identify facilities that would align with the Olympic Village campus’ future educational direction.
The Victorian School Building Authority has advised that tenders will be released in mid-July with builders to be appointed by early September 2018. Construction is planned to start the same month and the new school is scheduled for completion by about September next year.
It’s part of a $2.5 billion investment by the Andrews Labor Government in the past three Budgets to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.
Victoria’s school building boom has delivered more than 1,200 school upgrades and 68 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
