Students in Rosanna will enjoy a new suite of classrooms featuring modern facilities, thanks in part to the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Ivanhoe Anthony Carbines today visited St Martin of Tours Primary School in Rosanna to turn the first sod to mark the start of construction of the $3.5 million upgrade.
Ten new classrooms and a car park will be built to accommodate growing enrolments at the large Catholic primary school, which has over 500 students.
The Labor Government is contributing $1.5 million to the project, which is being funded in partnership with the school. Construction of the new building is expected to be complete by September 2018.
The funding boost forms part of the Labor Government’s $120 million investment to build and upgrade Catholic and independent schools across the state.
Non-government schools are an important part of Victoria’s education system, with more than one third of Victorian students studying at Catholic or independent schools.
The Government is investing billions of dollars to make Victoria the Education State – a state where every child, in every community, in every school, has access to a great education.
